More adult children than ever are moving back into their parents’ homes and MoneySuperMarket wanted to create a content series to bring their research on the subject to life.
‘Hotel of Mum and Dad’ is a research-inspired content series. The project aims to reveal the hidden and unexpected costs parents are bearing for the unofficial ‘hotel-style services’ they provide their adult children living at home – from room and board, to laundry and cleaning and even breakfast in bed. This is more than just about the additional costs of gas and electricity, it’s about the little extras you might not expect.
We created one longer form film in 16:9 format and two supporting shorter form films in 4:5 format to cover off different areas of the research. All shot in a single day all three films had toreflect MoneySuperMarket’s core principals, to educate the public on spending habits and make the most of their money. The content had to include an element of humour and relate-ability throughout to ensure it was engaging and ‘shareable’, but not be slapstick or take away from the key messaging. The content series was highly successful and won Drum PR awards 2019 – Best finance and professional service category.
