W Communications approached us to help flip the no-show dining experience on a set of unsuspecting diners on behalf of Open Table, to help highlight the issues restaurants face on a daily basis. Working with trusted partner and hidden camera specialist Matt Holt, we invited members of the public down to an empty restaurant rigged with a hidden camera system to capture their hilarious and authentic reactions.

Working with a small team, we shot during peak dining hours to capture the remarkable experience of when an open restaurant has no staff, no specials and no one answering the phones. We made sure our unsuspecting diners didn’t go home hungry by treating them to a free meal at a nearby restaurant whilst helping to highlight the issue of how detrimental it is to a restaurant when bookings don’t show up.
